Auto coolant problems?

I have a 2001 van that take an orange coolant well my husband change the water pump and all of the coolant ran out and he replaced it with the green stuff and it has now turned brown and looks like runny mudd

it wont hurt anything it just looks grose i use a univercal antifreeze that mixes with any color ..your car is designed for the orange dex cool use it or any unervicial long life antifreeze dont use the regular green stuff the silicate is to high.........your car uses plastic intake gaskets that dont seal well,,,,, if they leak,,, felpro makes a metal replacement spend the extra and get it

i own a repair shop,and you need to get it all flushed back out real good ,and fill it back with the reddish kind again,the two don't well together,,that's what made it look like mud,there not meant to be mixed together on it,after you flush it all out and refill it everything should be alright on it,,good luck with it,hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.

The vehicle had dexcool this is the manufacturer's recommended coolant it is referred to as poly-glycol antifreeze, the green stuff is ethelyne-glycol. There are differences in the two, and should never be mixed. If your vehicle utilizes the orange type(poly-glycol) that is all that should be used as the cooling system will not operate as it is designed to with the 'other' stuff. This is only a simplified answer, but it should suffice to answer your question. Drain it, flush it, and ,following the manufactures suggested procedure, refill it with recommended fluid.
