Question:
Pretty much, when I am trying to drive my 1995 Mitsubishi Galant (Spelled Wrong) and I put it on drive to go foward it likes hold up and I have to put it in parking so I can try again until I finally get it. Somebody told me to change the Transmission Oil and Filter but then somebody else told me that if you change it and if you have never change it, it will just give you more problems and we have never changed it. We have done oil change and some other stuff but it will be greatly apprechiated if somebody could let me know some other stuff to try. If this has ever happen on another car and you know what it is or anything, just please help me, I want to give the Car to my son but I will like to fix that up first. Everything else on the car works great. I will just like to fix it and not have to spend $$$ on buying a newer car. Also, please note that it only does it sometimes and not all the times!

Overfilling power steering fluid?
You have to change your transmission oil. It's just like any other oil in a vehicle, it traps crud etc from entering into the transmission. However you may have more than this as a problem now. It sounds like your transmission needs to checked out. You could be facing a much heftier bill for not changing the oil. Better get to a mechanic quick!!Good Luck! You will probably need it now!!
How much will it cost to repair my car?
You have a problem with either the drive train or the transmission. A mechanic is needed to check this out. It may or may not not be an expensive job but left unattended your transmission will ultimately fail and the car will be worthless.I am not a transmission mech but I would first check the linkage on the side of the transmission to see if it can be adjusted. It could be going into neutral instead of drive causing it not to move. Hope this helps.
will the smog equiqment from a 84 cressida fit a 82 corolla?
Sounds like you need to have your shift linkage checked. Also check fluid levels. When is the last time you had the fluid changed and a new filter put in?Ok first of all it is right if you have never changed the oil and filter in the transmission do not do it. Second shame on you for not doing it. Third there or a few things you can try. First try looking at the shifter cable it may be strechted. Second go to NAPA get you a can of Sea Foam for transmissions and put it in there. Follow the instructions on the can carefully. If you change the oil and filter it is possible the transmission will go out due to the oil shlacking. When it turns brown in other words. Oil and filter should be changed every 25000 miles. Needs to be done by a professional also so that all the oil is flushed out even the oil in the tourqe converter. Pay the 80 dollars it is worth it in the long run.
