Question:
I have an 87 Jeep Wrang 4.2L straight 6...I just rebuilt the motor (less than 100 miles on the new one) I replaced the alternator, starter, valve cover, distributor, cap, plugs, wires, rebuilt the motor(twice, the first time a valve seat didn't take and disintigrated in the motor, taking out 2 pistons with it) I went through 3 carburators until I found one that was rebuilt correctly. I also had to replace my flywheel and harmonic balancer. So far with the cost of the vehicle and repairs, I have spent over 10Kon this Jeep and I think I am past the point of no return as far as selling. Therefore, fixing it is my only option. Does anyone know what it wouldn't start, is it due tothe cold or is there another mechanical issue (s) I am overlooking? I really need some help with this thing. I just got done yesterday and took it for a drive and she ran great. I let her sit overnight (it was cold) and this morning I try to start and it won't. I give it gas and let it crank and nothin HELP
Answers:
try your starter or your fuel pump--if you are getting fire then it is probably one of those...if you are not getting any fire I would take it to a dealership or ask them
Which is the best 3/4 ton diesel truck?
If it is cold and it won't start, you probably are right to look at the carburator. You're not getting the fuel to vaporize.I have a 1998 Dodge Ram with a turbo diesel,?
Yes, putting that kind of money in an '87 "Wrongler" is a little bit foolish. Real Jeeps have round headlights.
Any ideas as to why some cars can get >250,000 miles and others can't get past 150,000?
Get a helper to crank the engine and put a quick squirt of starting fluid or WD 40 in the carb. Hopefully it fires and establishes enough vacuum that it'll continue to run. I'm assuming you changed rings and bearings during your rebuild. The engine is probably pretty tight.
I have heard that maruti and suzuki have broken up.True?
You may have water in the gas that freezes when cold and plugs the fuel line. Does it always start when warmer out? Add some dry gas or better yet drain the tank first then add new gas with some dry gas.How do you get pine pitch (sap) off a new car without messing the paint up?
turn the key on, you should get gas primed for 2 seconds, if not the computer shuts down the fuel pump,, my 94 JGC ran fine one day and next morning nothing,, I got underneath with a light ( after looking up jeep forums, ) and found out that when you turn the key on your fuel pump line will be hot for 2 seconds, if car doesnt start computer turns off electronics ( in case of roll over, accident etc. ) so with the help of a friend or wife or whatever, I was able to see the pump getting power,, so then I went to the fuel rail in engine and pulled the line ( this part is dangerous but I am a idiot ) point hose away and have key turned on, if gas is coming out then the pump is good, if not pump is bad, I put a aftermarket on my frame for 100 bucks,, there is a website showing details of it,How many quarts of oil does a 2000 pontiac grand am gt take?
of course if your jeep is caburated and not FI, same thing would apply,, a vehicle needs, gas, air and spark to run, old spark plug laying on block with a spark cable will check spark, starter fluid down hatch of carb will start car for a second,
