Where's the external voltage regulator on a Ford F-150, 1991?

Question:
The alternator has an external voltage regulator and we can't FIND the bloody thing. Where would we find it in order to replace it?
We already have the part, we just need to find where to put it.

If it does have an external regulator, the factory placed it on the passenger side fenderwell(under the hood) just in front of the shock tower, this is according to autozone.com

Are you sure? I could have sworn it was integral to the alternator.

It is integral to the alternator. If the regulator has gone south, the alternator is probably shot also. Get a rebuilt 'nator.
