Can i exchange peugoet xrdt 306 engine which has connections for bosch fuel pump with an lucas fuel pump?

i am replacing an engine for a 1994 306 diesel can i exchange peugoet xrdt 306 engine with a 1996 diesel which has connections for bosch fuel pump with an lucas fuel pump engine or is it too complicated . ive been informed there are many types of fuel pump. can i not just drop exchange engine straight without any conversions the electrics are looking different on both

i think they come with either bosch or lucas and i dont think its that difficult, their timing settings are different on the pulley driven by the cam belt, cut off selonoid and fast idle might be problem because they are different, another thing is 1994 XUD9T engines dont come with egr, but after 1995's do
