Question:
well basically the car would loose power..and many people said it may be the fuel injector or the distributor we replaced the distributor and the oxy filter or whatever it's called..so there' good..we also replaced the fuel filter..and put alchohol (rubbing alcohol) into the gas tank to clean out the fuel filter this was recommended by a mechanic and it worked and the car got all it's power back and everything drove it to maryland and everything worked for about a week and now it's losing power again it's like it's bubbling shaking while driving..i was told it may be the fuel pump fuel injector and a whole rack of others i dont think it's the catalyst or wateva people are saying it is b/c my boifriend chcked that out is ther anyway i can chek the fuel pump myself or does anyone know what else i can try before i try to replace the expensive fuel injector this car was sold as is so i'm trying my hardest to fix it i was told nissans are pretty good cars but it's not looking that way to me

It sounds like your losing a cylinder for some reason. Next time it acts up if it is not already, locate the injectors on top of the engine(you will see four identical plugs equally spaced apart) disconnect and replace them one by one untill you disconnect the one that causes NO change in the engine speed. The one that causes no change is the bad cylinder if it is a bad cylinder. If that procedure causes obvious change ao all cylinders then you can begin to look at a fuel delivery(fuel pump or fuel filter) problem or a ignition(bad coil) problem. My guess would be a faulty injector in which case You get one for around $100 new or you could always get one from a junkyard and just put it in your pocket if your desprete(although I do not condone stealing but it happens).
Does anyone have a link to a 1999 Toyota Camry Schedule Maintenance Guide?
The injectors are not difficult at all to change, All you need is phillips and standard screwdrivers. Soak the whole area with penetrating oil for an hour(just to be safe).

Nissans are good cars. You can get a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up to test the fuel pressure. You can also disconnect a fuel line at the injectors to see if fuel is comming out. If it is not then your fuel pump is bad or you have debris in your lines. If the pressure is good then you will need to have your injectors cleaned. How about your spark plugs? Are they in good condition? For a car to run you need air/fuel/compression/and spark. Just remeber that and you can figure it out. Good luck.
i mechanic for a living,,and you have to have the right tools to check the fuel pump with,,other wise you wont know what or how much pressure it has on it,,without the right tools you can go on all day long repairing things,,and never get it fixed,,i suggest you take it in to have it checked out,,it may be something simple to fix,,but a good mechanic can find it,,and repair it,,and maybe save you some money in the process,,good luck hope this help,s.
