There may also be a control that you can simply plug in and change the settings.
You need to replace a control chip.

www.alldataDIY.comAs far as I know it isn't adjustable. The Chevy/ GMC trucks in that era are all electronically limited to 100mph. I'm sure the engine is capable of going faster, but the computer monitors vehicle speed not engine RPM to make this choice for you.
You can't disable the speed sensor, or the transmission won't shift correctly at all. You would have to be able to edit/modify the speed signal, which is inpractical, or the computer would need to be "flashed" with a different set of perameters. I don't know if this service is available, but I'll bet you ten bucks police vehicles don't have this limitaton built in.
You do realize that has fuel injection right? t's not a 2barrel or a 4barrel! Not in 97!
You know that a truck like that is not stable at that speed I hope. The high centre of gravity leaves it susceptible to roll-overs. That is why they have cut-outs at 97 mph. You need to grow up and drive like a human being. If you want that kind of speed, buy a race car and learn to drive on the track, where it is more likely you won't take innocent people out when you die. I will cost $350 to mod the vehicle to go faster. If you take that step, please prepay your funeral expenses, because at higher speeds trying to avoid a squirrel on the road will knock you over.

You see BFH confirmed my suspicions. A '97 has fuel injection! It does not have any barrels!
