Question:
On a 5 mile trip today the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero suddenly. The engine light also came on and the engine was running rough. . Before I could stop, the presuure came back up and everything was fine for a few seconds. This process repeated several times. About i mile from home it stopped acting up. I checked the oil level and it was ok. The only other anomally is, I had noticed earlier on the same trip the temperature guage never came off zero. The other gauges are working. The truck has 103,000 miles on it. Does this sound like a computer issue? I haven't checked the temperature sender but I will as soon as I find it.
Answers:
my ute is 260kw can anyone convert this to horsepower?
Sounds like plugged pick up screen on oil pump.Try putting a little atf to clean screen then change oil and try 5w20 This is usually a cold weather problem. If my truck is knocking, is it too late to fix?
it does sound like a comp/electrical issue.without the oilpressure dropping & staying low, the first thing to check is
the codes
I know that is what would happen if your oil was overfilled but if it is not then it may be electrical. Did you wait ten minutes after shutting the engine off before checking the oil to give it time for all of the oil to drip back down into the pan. If you check it right away you will get an incorrect reading. Try it again after giving enough time and make sure its not overfull.
