1991 Toyota Rear Defroster. Is it just a solder?

Question:
My 1991 Toyota Corolla is suffering. The rear window defroster broke at the connection. (where it connects to the window) I was wondering if it can be soldered back on? Does anyone know what kind of metal this is made of?

That depends on how it's failed. From the factory, there is usually a lug that's soldered to the metal defroster layer, if the lug has come off, you should be able to solder it back on. However, if the metal has separated from the glass, this will be a lot harder. Alternately, you could put some Rain-X on the back window to keep it from fogging up in the first place.

I think synthetic motor oil basically....?

There are repairs that can be made to them. You might search "defrost grid repair" and get some good answers.. One I found was: http://www.frostfighter.com/ff_troublesh... ...Good Luck...
