Answers:

Can i patch a steel gas line (92 cutlass) with rubber gas line and proper clamps? is this unusual?

To change the cables can be a bit of a job. They have to be traced back to their destination and the new ones put in their place. If you want to change them because the existing battery terminals are corroded it's easier to cut the old ones off close to the old terminal, bare the wire back a little, and fit screw clamp replacements from your auto parts shop.
