Replacing positive side battery terminal?

Question:
i have to replace the positive side but i dont want to remove the whole wire, and tried to uncrimp the factory housing where the wires meet up at the positive side, but it would not come undone, is there an easy way to uncrimp the factory housing...can i just cut off the terminal and start over?... if so will there be enough wire to reach the terminal?

I would buy another cable ,a generic short one and splice it to the existing cable with a butt connector .if you cant find a butt conector use a piece if copper pipe and crimp the two together and tape over that.
it works quite well on my car which is dang near imposible to get to the other end of the cable

I was going to do this procedure on a car I used to own before. But, I was going to replace the entire cable. If I were you, I wouldn't just try to splice the wires, there's a lot of juice that goes through there and those wires in the batter cable are an awfully large gauge wire.

If you're going to replace the terminal, you should go ahead and replace the entire cable with the new terminal intact. It would be much better than putting up with your car missing, and creating a cascading situation with the power in your car where it might cause a whole new set of problems.

That second wire on the positive cable probably runs down to your distributor, just take off the things that you need to take off and replace the whole wire.

check the length of the terminal before you cut it,
if the crimps are that tight you can use a grinder and cut them off.

Fuel pump, filter or else?

just take a pair of side cuts and cut the cable off up close and get a universal end and put on the cable.
