Do deutz F8L413FW Diesel engine have black smoke?
Gap-less rings have been around for over 40 years on cars. They work great, they just overlap on the top and bottom with out touching and leave plenty of room for expansion, esp where there is a tapper to the pore or you don't know or have a piston ring filer/gapper.no, they need room for expansion. If they bind up, they can score the cylinder walls. I have never heard of anybody using gapless rings....I don't recommend it.
They do help but not an extreme amount for the street. on a loose engine they help keep the blowby down and compression up.
For mild performance they are pricy
On a big block chevy they are great, even on stock
It's only the second ring that is a double ring and I think they are doing the top rings now for the very hi perfomance.
