You need to provide more info regarding which smog components exceeded their limits. CO (carbon monoxide), NOx (nitrous oxides), HC (hydrocarbons), etc.How much does it usually cost for a 100,000 mile check-up?
Depending which reading was out of spec, you may have to adjust or replace different items.
For example, excessive HC can often be fixed with a new catalytic converter.
Too much CO might require a new O2 (oxygen) sensor. Out of spec NOx could indicate a problem with engine temperature.

Emissions could also mean a leaking fuel system (bad gas cap, leaking hoses, etc.)

get a new catalic converter, they about 200 bucksDid you do a major tune-up and oil change before? Don't put in any F.I. cleaner. The cleaner will make your readings higher. If you are OK on those items then your cat converter is probably bad. Exhaust shops will weld in an aftermarket universal for usually less than $200
