Phone charger stuck in cigarette lighter?

If its automatic then its probably the torque converter located between the transmission and the engine. When you slow down the engine goes down to idle rpm's (revolutions per minute), and the tranny goes down to ZERO rpms. The engine can't stay on at ZERO rpms. It usually needs atleast 1000 rpms. So what may be happening is that your transmission and engine stay locked/connected when you stop. The transmission forces the engine to go down to ZERO rpms and it would stall. If this is the case, more than likely the problem lies in the torque converter which should let the side closest to the engine keep spinning while the side closest to the transmission can go to a complete stop. Replace or repair the torque converter if this is the case.

What causes a motor mount brake?

If its a manual transmission the clutch takes the place of the torque converter. That is why you press on the clutch/disengage the clutch when you come to a complete stop, otherwise the car would stall. Same principal, when you disengage the clutch it disconnects the tranny from the engine letting the engine keep doing its thing while letting the tranny come to a stop. If you have a manual tranny look into getting the clutch repaired or replaced.

Do you have the Air Conditioner on when this happens?
My Dad's car stalls but only when the AC is on. I think he said the idle was too low. So make sure they check the engine at idle WITH the AC on.
