when i try to start it on a cold morning it takes ages . the glow plugs are fine and the ingecters are fine as the aa have tested them.but when its worm its fine only when its cold.any ideas

I have a pajero, and its the same, the plugs are ok as are the injectors, the guy in my garage recons its the plugs even though they are fine, he says that there is only the minimum power to them, he has suggested that he put a separate higher circuit and i will not have any more problems, I get the black smoke as well in the cold but not when warmTry switching your headlamps on before and during the start up operation. I've read somewhere that the extra resistance in the electrical system helps the glow plugs to warm up more quickly.
I know it sounds odd, but it must be worthy of a try?

can you get a block heater installed ? do you have an oil with a 5w rating as its lower # ? diesels will not even turn over here without those two things. good lucksounds like a glow plug problem but could also be a weak battery but you could try getting an additive for diesel i use Redex diesel injector additive in the tank and never have a problem
