Okay, I have a '91 Nissan Maxima, and there's a fuel injector leaking, I was wondering about how much it would cost and how I would go about fixing it myself(okay not really myself, but tell me how to do it anyway)

on a 91 maxima you pull all 6 injectors out as an assembly. if it is leaking externally you replace the o rings and reinstall the original injectors. if they are leaking fuel into the combustion chamber then the injectors need to be replaced. hit ebay and community search patipew. he sells tons of parts for the v series motor in that car and he will walk you through step by step on how to replace them. much cheaper than factory parts. i saw a turbo set of injectors go for 25 bucks from his site the other day.usually an oring, but a lot of times, when you start removing things like this, you have to change them for all the injectors. consult a shop first!
Usually you use a wrench or socket to remove the fuel line from the top of the injector and then remove the injector from the manifold by pulling it out. There may be a retainer that you have to remove from the injector and you usually have to pull fairly hard to remove it.

most injectors are just pushed into place with an 0 ring seal.first the fuel rail pressure must be bled off.then it is just an unplug of the mini computer on top of the injector and lift out the old one and install the new one.they are fairly expensive about 75 dollars for you maxima. check kragen.com for an on line price.

i own a repair shop,and this is one of those things you sort of want a shop to do then if it leaks its goes back to the shop,and the repair is covered,,the injectors have o-rings on them.and they have to be soaked in transmission fluid so they will swell up,and seal off once there installed,,if this isn't done,,most of the time they will leak,,id advise you to have it done,,because they,ll probably have to re-seal all of them once they take the fuel rail off of it,so id have it done,,im trying to save you a lot of time and aggravation ,because these can be hard to get to seal up sometimes..good luck hope this help,s.does synthetic motor oil such as royal purple, castrol syntec or mobil 1 motor oil really work?
