What year of 7.3 are you referring to? The most common cause of a no-start on a 7.3 is a failed CMP sensor. Do you, or your mechanic, have access to a scan tool that will read codes, and live data? How is your ICP pressure, and IPR duty cycle readings? Are there any codes? What is the oil level and condition? How about fuel supply pressure, or fuel level in the tank? Sorry for more questions than answers. It would help to know the year of the vehicle. But by the sounds of things, it either be a failed CMP sensor, lack of ICP pressure, or lack of fuel. Any one of those three conditions will cause a no-start. Hope this helps.

If you ran it out of fuel it's possible air got in the system. The injector could be bad. There could be water in the fuel.

do not use ether you will **** it up it might end up using it all the time now check your glow plugs and controller for the glow plugs and if its a power stroke 97 and newer your hi presser oil pump or switch is bad when you turned it over for it to run if you have no oil presser it will not run because the fuel injector's run off of oil presser but please don't use ether if you have to use a starting aid use wd40

if it starts on either check the glowplup relay if that checks out you need to ohm the glowplugs out. you can do this by placing 1 leed on negitive post and go to the under valve cover connector (valve cover side) glow plugs are the 2 terminals on each end. WARNING!!! do not back prob the wire harness for any reason its an 115 volt circuit and the fly back voltage can be leathel. resistance value on them is aprox 2 ohms or less. Do not test them with a test light as you can test a bad glow plug and it will show good.

i would guess your glow plugs arent working.. if you hit it with ether and the GP are working, it would ignite it and you would probably damage the heads- or the whole upper end of engine pretty much
