Question:
1976 Monte Carlo, I have a rotten shimmy shock. This shock is on the steering to the frame. The end on the frame i got off, but the other end i am having trouble. There is a long bolt going through the shock and through the the steering bar. On one end there is a cotter pin and a nut, i got it off. Then just on the other side of the steering bar on the bolt is a nut as well it might be part of the bolt i dunno. I managed to pull the shock off as the end was rotten. How do I get the whole big bolt out. Do i need a pickle fork or what about putting a 3/4 deep socket and a air gun. Help me out as i am stuck thanks,

Try taking a large pair vice grips and clamping the shock to the steering bar. The bolt that goes through the shock is tapered so clamping it down may lock it in place. If that doesn't work you can try using a pickle fork.More Questions & Answers ...
