How long should it take front car lights to go out, after car is turned off? Why would they take longer?

Most lights turn off immediately, what is the average for most cars, and why would it take 2-3 minutes for the front lights to go out?

Average cars the headlights go off right away. Nicer cars, high line cars, etc the lights stay on for a few minutes so you have light as you walk away from the car.
