no, it shouldn't. a leaky water pump is just a leak. if the check engine light is on it could be that the leak has caused your coolant level to drop to the point where a sensor has picked up a signal that there is not enough coolant. i would get it repaired as soon as possible. in the mean time make sure the radiator and overflow container are filled to their proper level.What does it generally cost to replace a bad oxygen sensor?
