They sell oversize drain plugs that might seal your stripped hole. Do not over-tighten the replacement one.
my SUV temp gauge does not ever move off of the cool side...does my termostat need changing??
There is another drain plug that inserts into the drain hole with a large rubber seal.. if you use this one.. don't ever take it out all the way to drain the oil.. [if you take it all the way out.. the little butterfly piece it screws to inside the oil pan will fall off.. freely rolling around inside your oil pan with no way to reposition or reconnect to it..]
Loosen this style drain plug and take a putty knife and insert under the large rubber seal to let the oil drain out. Re-tighten snug but never over tight.

The bolt that youre talking about s the oil plug, or oil pan bolt.i have a 1993 ford xlt 4x4 and i don't know how to engage the four wheel drive please help me!?
If youve stripped the bolt than just replace the bolt at your local auto parts store for like a buck. However, if you've been using power tools like at Walmart, you may have also stripped the the plug well, in which case, worst case, you'll need a new pan all together.
TIREd of spending $ on car. Did I overpay?
Remember, the oil plug bolt doesnt require that much torque especially, if it comes with a plastic or rubber gasket.
