i own a repair shop and it sounds like you either have a bad gas filter on it or the fuel pump is going out on it,it can even be an air filter clogged up on it,it s fuel related problem on it,just finding it may be the trick,id check the filter first though, that's usually what it is,good luck with it,hope this helps.Whats the best way to get smudged paint off of a car?
air and gas sensor.fuel filter...or fuel pump...one of the above.fords are know for bad sensors.good luckDoes anyone know where I can get a windscreen rubber for my pre dec 1970 ford transit?
There is no way to know for sure, without testing, but the two most likely possibilities on your particular vehicle are a weak fuel pump or a mass air flow sensor under reporting the amount of air coming into the truck. The fuel pump can put out enough fuel to start and idle the truck, but when the demand for fuel is greater, it may not be able to keep up. The mass air flow sensor is the most important input to the powertrain control module regarding fuel control. If it under reports how much fuel is going into the truck, then less fuel will be supplied and you will experience this symptom. There are many other possibilities, again, but I just thought I'd let you know the first two checks if it were in my bay. Hope this helps give you a direction, at least. I recommend taking it to an ASE Blue Seal rated facility, which you can find on ASE.com. This elite certification belongs to only 3-4% of all shops across the nation and has very, very stringent requirements for membership.Maybe your Catalytic converter maybe clogged. Its do to a
sticking EGR valve.Get that checked out .I had that as well.
try checking throttle position sensor. It's a computer part so you will have to take it to a repair shop to have it tested It's either on the gas pedal or throttle body, this could be bad.So my husband with 23 years of experience tells me!! Good Luck!
Fuel injectors, coil packs, 98 cavalier...oh my!?
There should be a check engine light on if you're having these problems. The engine code would be a better start to diagnosing the problem. It could be a Mass Airflow Sensor but without a code or being there to play with it it's hard to tell. Undo your airbox where the filter goes in. Spray some carb cleaner in there while giving it some gas if the rpms increase like normal then it's a fuel problem. Oh and by the way the mass airflow sensor senses how much air the engine is getting so the computer can adjust the fuel properly not senses how much fuel it's getting.check your spak plugs
What do i do about the rust that has appeared on our 4 yr old car?
Possibility of a plugged up gas filter. That would be the easy fix.If possible try to limp it in to a ford or other garage and have them put the computer tester on it.Get it diagnosed.Good luckCar starts stuttering when i put the petal to the floor now??!?
If you simply loose rpms with the pressing of the pedal, then it is probably something with the air or fuel like the other answers have stated.Do you repair a car hood, or just buy an after market hood?
If other things in your vehicle seem to add to the problem like it happens more when electrical things are being used (ie. lights or wipers) then you may have a bad return ground to the battery. I know this sounds weird but I had this happen on my 97' venture. In a distributor-less ignition system, the electronic spark module controls the firing. If there is a bad ground in the system, turning on other electrical items on the vehicle draw what little power you have and there is less available to the ignition system. As a result everything slows down or starts to misfire. When I turned on my lights on my van, it would slow way down and almost kill.
