Question:
I've just bought a deisel citroen saxo, which has been well serviced and many new parts. I left it for about 10 days and it will not start. Do I keep turning the engine over ( unlike a petrol engine) which I am used to. It was going well until this.

Glow plugs would be my guess too. Keep turning it over and see if it will fire. A new set of glow plugs will set you back about £20-£25 and be well worth doing. What could be wrong with my car?

check your glow plugs. when you start the engine turn the key on for like 10 seconds then try it. the reason why it doesn't start is because of the glow plugs. Why does my 97 non turbo diesel transit take ages to start in the cold mornings?
fuel pipe, filter, heater plugs/? battery Find a tame mechanic before u take to garage......rates are high, Better than top gear eh? turning a diesel over and over drains your battery v.quickI have recharged the battery on my Peugeot 307 is there a start up sequence?
I would need a little more detail to try and figure it out like how its acting and sounds like when you try to start it, but it may be the fuel lines. a quick fix is pour diesel in the carburetor while someone else is cranking it. Dont give up too soon but if after a half hour it may just be starter. Use a multimeter to run checks. Make sure the battery is good first. If its new there should be nothing wrong with the glo plugs but if you are starting it right away without giving them a minute to warm after turning the key before ignition they will bulb. you can check them with the multimeter.I work on diesels.diesels do not have carburetors
