Is it turbocharged? Some turbo vehicles have a turbo timer to keep the engine running and allow the turbo to cool before shutting off. Without this the oil in turbo stops moving in a hit turbo and can turn to carbon and stuff up the turbo.Cold air blowing when heater is on?
that call is it. dieseling!!carbon in combution chamber or " too hot spark plugs"( check number on the plugs)
I think will be good to use Mercedes spark plugs.
Faulty fuel shutoff solenoid.
i own a repair shop,and this is caused from the fuel pump relay not shutting of right away for it,,its called run on,,and it means the relay is going bad on it,,you,ll need to replace it before long,,or it will keep doing this,,good luck hope this help,s.

i belive the trem is called deiseling . or run on . if this is the fact the timing is off3 possibilities come to mind
1 turbo timer
2 anti run solenoid on carby
3 carbon on heads igniting incoming fuel mix - i had an old fairlaine that was so babied by the previous owners it built up so much carbon on the heads that it all glowed red hot & acted like spark plugs
