98 Isuzu Rodeo V6. When I drive it for 15+ min, the "automatic" shift gives and I must manually shift. Why??

Question:
When this happens the check engine light (& sometimes the check trans light) comes on. If I leave the car off for a couple of hours, the problem "resets" and the car & tranny works fine. If I drive locally (within 10-15 min) the car has no problems. Sometimes it drives fine for about an hour before this happens. Is it electrical?

1988 Pontiac Fiero Fast Idle.?

and let me guess, the indicator will move to neutral without you touching it.. that's because the shift control module is going out..and yes all you have to do, it completely cut vehicle off. while off move the shifter from park to 1 several times and this will reset the module sometimes.. the module on breaks contacts after it reaches a certain temperature.. parts at dealer ship was 165.00 plus labor.. Good luck
