Question:
I have a 2000 Camry and the other day I turned onto a gravel road by accident. I turned around and as soon as I made it back to the street my engine sounded loud when I tried to increase my speed. It keeps doing this but seems to settle down when I hit around 45mph or higher. Any ideas if those gravel rock roads may have done something?
Answers:
i drive on gravel roads every once in a while and it dosent do anything to my car, it would hard for a rock to be sucked up into the air intake and then pass throught he filter to get into the engine. i think its all in ur head.
All I can think of is that a rock may have gotten stuck between the catalytic convertor and the housing. This would cause a tinny, rattling noise that sounds bad but wouldn't cause any problems. This is kind of far fetched, but possible.
