What should i do about my car? 1997 Jetta 2.0?
is very difficult to put that in writing...Which automotive repair scan tool to buy?
You have to turn the flywheel with a pry bar, until You see the adjustment hole( access window) covered by a plate and that plate is hold by to bolts remove the plate ,You will see some indentations
(sort of flywheel, but different grooves) there You have to put the special tool and turn that inner wheel until the clutch pedal is loose and travel more than 1/4 of an inch.
Does this mean that my clutch is going out?
the special tool is : a long handle ,one end for the hand an the other for the grooves(flat end) but ,before the flat end it has a hole and a bolt t,the bolt You torque it in the flywheel special hole ( in the center of access window)
How much does a shock or struts cost on a 2003 Ford Taurses?
I am not sure, if that is clear....
it is simple in reality, but I don't know how to say it.
the tool is available on Snap On tools, Mack tools or Matco tools
as a final comment.without the tool, is near impossible the adjusment.
i've changed more clutch plates than i wanted to . but adjustments was trial and error back off . ajustments till the clutch disengages the flywheel its pretty simple really.
if you have a manual clutch on any vehicle the easy way to adjust it is from the underneath side... there will be a rod with a threaded portion and usually two nuts that lock...loosen the nuts so that the rod can be lengthened, remove the spring return if there is one so that you can feel the amount of clearance between the rod and the throwout bearing when the rod is seated BACK against the clutchend... you need from 3/16 inch to 1/4 inch of slop so the throw out bearing is fully released. tighten the two nuts, and push gently on the clutch inside the car ...you should have about 1/2-1" before it touches. then start the engine and with the clutch fully depressed, put it in first gear..slowly release it and see if it comes up a couple of inches then engages...hope this helps its easy after the first one and these instructions work on about 90% of all manual clutches...if your clutch is hydraulic it probably needs a new kit, like half a wheel brake cylinder...then bleed it with the screw provided...sometimes you can just bleed one and it works for a couple of days.
