Removed fuel pump assmbly from tank of 2.5L, 86 olds calais, will it work in tank of 3.0L?

Pulled and tested pump assmbly (pump, float, sending unit, etc. all together from tank of 2.5L,86 Olds. Calais. Will work in tank of 3.0L engine? Seems like same tank, wire harness same, height is same,float different,same,1 flat other round.Store says different part numbers. 3.0L pumps costs more that 2.5L. Is their enough difference?

I did a quick search and one place had the 4 and 6 cylinder models grouped together for the same pump. See if you can swap the float, otherwise if it fits go ahead and use it.
If you use the different float you might get the wrong gauge reading. good luck
