every couple of days or so. I've been putting off replacing it because I'm saving money and since it takes the air I know it's not complketely shot. Is it unsafe for me to do this?

before i replaced it i would look it over for a nail in the tread ... maybe get some soapy water and dump over it and try to find the leak ... if its not bad i would pull the nail out and plug it ... u can find a little cheap plug kit at an autoparts store ... its worth a shot imo especially if the tire isnt too worn ...hi. is it better or worse to wrap headers?

If you keep on it with the refilling of the air in there, you should be ok. Just don't let it get soo flat, where if you drive it on the rim, it'll damage the tire.do this as long as you like . just make sure you have a spare tire because sooner or later its not gonna work. It costs about 8 to 12 dollars to have it fixed.

It isn't really unsafe, If you would get 1 can of the fix a flat, name brand or generic, it would most likely fix the thing & you wouldn't have to keep paying for air. Get a pitcher of soapy water from the kitchen and pour it slowly over the tire. The bubbles will show you where the leak is.You can have the tire plugged for a few bucks by a garage.

Yeah, you could have a blow out if it isn't fixed. But you can take it to an oil change place and have them check it for a puncture or leak and as long as it's on the tread, not the sidewall, they sould be able to plug it for just about 5 or 10 dollars. THe bead on the rim or the stem valve leaks, put some spit on your finger, and place some over the stem valve when you fill it, to see if it blows the spit off, by bubbling through. Yes, this could be dangerous, especially if you are on the freeway. If you have a blowout you could have a serious accident and either hurt yourself or worse someone else. And no you are not saving money by airing it up every now and then because this takes time and fair wear and tear on the other tires that have to pick up the slack. Idon:t think it is unsafe. I have two tires I been airing up every week ( 6-8 LBS.) for about 8 month. Your tires and mine probably have air leaking around the rime or the valve stem is leaking.yea its safe to keep putting air into it,but it might get annoying.it could be leaking around the bead,maybe you picked up a nail or something,also it could simple,like a leaking valve in the valve stem,or it could be the valve stem itself.

I bet it is a tire valve leaking around the rim. Take it to a tire shop or a service station that works on cars. The mechanic will check it and replace the valve if necessary and should take the tire off the rim and clean around the rim where the bead goes. He should check for a leak after doing that.
