Car dosen't idle in park and reves up&down?

Question:
in park the engine reves up and down to around 1500 to2000 rpm and then want to die out during the first 5 to10 min.

This could be caused by a dirty or contaminated mass air flow sensor(MAF) especially if you happen to have a K&N air filter system on it

Depends on a lot of things, year would help, but if it is a 1990- present could be an o2 sensor, easily replaced on most vehicles.
