91 ranger keeps locking in reverse?

Question:
sometimes it lockes in reverse i put it in newtral & its still reverse. if i put in any other gear it locks up
i pulled tranny out & it worked fine ,i put it back in & same thing happens. 5 speed ford ranger

You either broke a shift fork or sheared one of the roll pins that hold the shift fork and the reverse collar is not moving with the shift shafts. I hope it's a mazda M5OD trans. Just remove again and then remove top cover and find out which fork isn't moving with shifter.
