Ford Focus 2003 ZTS remote entry system?

Question:
My transmitter is working only from 10 ft in his best day. I changed the battery with a new one, but nothing changed. Where is the receiver located? Can i do something to increase the range?

I have a 99 Nissan patrol ST 3lt turbo that just wont stop smoking & waste to much fuel?

take it to ford , bad transmitter or reciever arm and a leg later. aleast they will fix it.
