presume you have dealt with the battery, if not take it back to your local dealer with the car they should reset it for you
Overfilling power steering fluid?
the central locking bit of the key doesnt affect the starting of the car, what you had been told to do was correct but remote control part of your key is broken. (very common)you can try disconnecting the battery for a short time and then see if it will start then otherwise an auto electrician or vauxhall dealer.
Have a loOK in your hand book.It should tell you the process to apply to your fob.If the batteries are ok,then it might be that you put it in the ignition barrel.Going by memory,it is similar to the vectra set up.When the batteries were worn out,you had to put the key in the ignition, switch on,and press one or both of the buttons at the same time, this resets the system and the doors lock then unlock to bring you back to normal again. But before trying it make sure you check your handbook,or contact your local Vauxhall dealer who will talk you through the process.. Good luck.
Have you taken apart the key fob at all? there is a small chip (for the immobiliser) inside there that may of fallen out, this is likely to e why it wont start if the car was starting before. Try your spare key to see if same problem
