How can i see if a chevy rear end will fit a pontiac?

Question:
will a 96 impala rear end gears fit in a 79 lemans

Answers:

Weather sensitive ABS light?

I've heard of everything from Ford 9" to dana 60's getting stuffed in the hind end of a '79 lemans. Bolting in, however, is a diff story. I think that axle is too new to be cross-compatible, try finding another '79 in a junkyard with a grenaded engine. The rear end in it will work just fine. Be prepared to overhaul the brakes on the junkyard axle, because trusting brakes that have been in a junkyard, potentially since 1979, is suicide at best.

engine not getting gas?

I really doubt it, pontiac rearends are differen't than chevy's and the housings aren't the same, you might be able to put the entire rearend out of the chevy under your pontiac but you will probably have to shorten it to fit the pontiac.
