Can i patch a steel gas line (92 cutlass) with rubber gas line and proper clamps? is this unusual?

my friend suggested it because we got a small leak, we had it on a hill for a bit then put it into the garage on a flat, and it leaked for about 20 minutes to an hour then stooped...

yes it is safe as long as you catch the leak so no fire can start

take it to a garage and have it repaird properly. I've had to do that on a few cars, i had to patch one gas line, it worked but i didn't like doing it, the cliant was very chap and he was losing about a tank of gas a day. it worked but the job was not done properly. I still regret doing that job.

like these nice folks say , for emergency use only. that fuel pump puts out way more pressure than the old style ones. patch it so the car won't burn down then take it to a shop so it remains safe , if you have fire insurance it is now void

If you do repair it that way make sure the rubber hose is approved high pressure gas line about a $1.50 a ft.and double clamp it. It is better to replace it with a short section of metal line and flare fittings tho

if its TBI fuel injection or the return line of either injection type that will work just fine. Butt if its MPFI the preasure on the preasure line could be to high to work
