Question:
Something keeps draining the power from my Battery. I have a 1991 f150 5.0 ford. what could be the problem?

Need to find out why pwr steering pump wont move after loosening bolts on top and bottom.?
unhook the battery overnight and then see how it holds up :)I paid 330.00 for new tie rods, alignment, and labor. Did I get ripped off?
well check the alternator or have a local shop test the electrical systemDoes anyone know where I could get a brand new transmission from?
Could have a bad diode trio in the alternator.this would leak power to ground with key off.Have alternator checked.A seperate other problem could be a circuit that is hot all the time could be shorting to ground just enough to not blow a fuse.(eg;a radio clock that does not shut off after you have left your vehicle.)Light problems on a 1998 Dodge ram?
You have a short to ground somewhere on your truck. This is a nightmare to find and I wish you the best of luck. Take a look around for bare wires that may be rubbing on the frame or anything that is metal. If you can't find it I know a guy in International Falls MN that will look at it. He does good work. If you can not make that drive I would check out the phone book for someone that does wiring on autos. Once again I wish you the best of luck. I hate wiring. Many things can cause this. Remove the negative (-) cable from the battery, hook a test light to the positive (+) terminal on the battery, and the ground to the engine and/or the body of the vehicle. With no ground going from the vehicle to the battery, and you getting a ground from the vehicle, the light should not burn. If it does then you have a short somewhere. Leave it attached while you move wires around everywhere on the vehicle. When you find the short, the light will go off as you wiggle the wire that has the short. If there is not enough drain to make the light work, then you will have to use a meter to measure it with. Set the meter to a low enough voltage setting on the DC scale to get a reading. I have seen a battery that was wet on top, and had a hold down that was not insulated, and it was draining the battery by contact from the hold down. The battery needs to be dry on the top, and no bare metal holding it down in place. If this does not locate the problem, then you need a short finder. Not many people has these, so you may need to find a shop that deals with this type of problem. Another thing that can drain the battery is a bad diode in the alternator, or the battery having an internal short inside. Many parts stores will check your charging system for free. This way you can make sure it is not the alternator or a bad battery doing this.
Glad I could help you. Good Luck!
I bet nobody can answer this one!!! what takes diesel exhaust off the side of my trailer?
Did it happen a of a sudden? It would probably be your battery. Remove it from your car and fully charge it using low amperage overnight. In the morning remove the charger and check the voltage in the battery. It should read a minimum of 12.5 volts. let the battery sit outside in cold conditions for a day. Check the voltage again If it's under 11.00 volts the battery is on its last legs Charge it again and have someone do a load test on it. If the battery tests out fine. Drag it to a Ford Garage. They may or may not find the problem quickly sometimes these draw downs are tough to isolate.More Questions & Answers ...
