Looking to buy this car but has these problems...?
The crank sensor sits behind the harmonic balancer on the right (toward the front) of the engine. It's tough to replace, because the harmonic balancer has to be removed, and they're usually torqued on VERY tight. Additionally, the sensor has to be carefully adjusted to allow the "fins" on the back of the balancer to pass through the grooves of the sensor. It's possible to do this yourself, but plan on putting in the better part of a long day in doing so. Be VERY careful in tightening the sensor in place once you've aligned it properly. If you overtighten, you'll crack the sensor, and the first rainy day you'll be doing this job again.Does anyone know the firing order for a 1981 chevy p/u?
On right side of engine unless it is VIN code 'D' engine, then it would be on lower front of engine near the oil filter.same place mine is.right down by the crank.i have a 88 olds, and mine is right by the crank.if you in the front of your car, look down to the crank,it should be on your right.you have to pull the damper,to change it.
