Question:
I have a 1996 nissan maxima. The radio and tape player in my car works just great. My cd player (built-in dash) worked great until Thursday when it started skipping and eventually stopped all together. It wont even read my cd or the cd cleaner disc (w/ bristles) when I put it in the player. The bristles on the cd player cleaner disc are visibly somewhat bent, but I dont think that makes a difference if my cd player doesnt even read the cd at all...?? I get an "ERR" when I put any cd in my cd player. I put the cd cleaner disc in my laptop and it worked just fine and I've put it in my car's player before and it worked just fine. Is it because I may have not cleaned it in a long time, that it wont read any of my cds? What do I do? I plan on buying a new cd cleaner disc tomorow, but what if that doesnt work either... could I take it to the auto shop and have them look at it?

My brother has a 1965 Mustang?
Sorry, your problem isn't a dirty CD player, its a dead one. You can do a few things:alternator belt instalation costs?
- Either pay to get yours fixed (probably $200)
- Find a used one at a junk yard at install it in your car ($50 and lots of hard work)
- Just buy an aftermarket unit and have it installed ($100-200)
The third choice is your best bet.
