Whats wrong with my car?

I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 130,000 miles very maintained and my check engine came on (not flashing), this also started my car to shake when I accelerate. It has the feeling like the car is trying to stall but can't. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

When your "Check Engine" light come on, it is because the car's computer has sensed a problem with a sensor, to find out where the problem is, take it to a shop or an auto parts store, most parts stores can read the computer's code with a scanner and then they will be able to tell you what the code means, thus telling you where your problem is.

Third, it's a pontiac with the hell of a mileage. By pontiac standards, that is. And finally, read the codes that may or may not point you in the right direction - gm codes are less than accurate, and start throwing parts at it until you hit in the eye.
