Question:
The bar has nudged a stump on the lower left corner and twisted up. I have released the brackets to see if it would spring back but it wont.
Answers:
Meaning not how it was cast or extruded, but that bend will always be in that piece of metal.
Even after you straighten it, the aluminum metal will always remember that injury.
Many alloys can be straightened with conventional methods, many will just snap.
I've always found it kind of funny that you can bend it by accident and it seems just as strong but distorted.
But when you try to bend it back,,,,,,, it says no way.
I do not know the term Bull Bar, but my initial guess is vacuum or pressure cast.
Very strong.
Heat will do nothing to the property of this type of metal until it fails (melts)
Morning start up problem with a 97 Ford Contour?
nope, not with aluminum. dont bend it anymore or it will break.do you think it's the sensor or transmission??
Be very careful with aluminum. Steel bends several times before it will break, but aluminum will only bend a time or two before it breaks. Try heating the aluminum up very hot before you try to straighten it and hopefully this will keep it from breaking. If you get a slight blueing you can usually clean it up with some light sanding.More Questions & Answers ...
