Question:
I am having problems with my engine. It will start right up and idle beutifully at about 1900rpm. I give it a little gas and it will accelerate. Once I let off on the gas it stalls. It starts right up again, and wont stay running unless I hold down the gas.

Hyundai, i lifted up my oil filter cap and found it had a white substance on it?
depending on the year of your car you may be able to find out what the problem is right away.Early 90's
You may be able to pull back the carpet on the passenger floorboard and look there for your computer, there you will find a Red LED light blinking(if your check engine light is on). The LED light blinks a sequence, X- amount of long blinks followed by X- amount of short blinks... for example, code 42 - four long blinks, followed by 2 quick flashes.
You take those 4 long blinks, thats your first number (#4) then the second quick blinks 2 (#2)
making code 42 - look up your cars year and model engine trouble codes and you will find a list of sites with the trouble codes to your car.
The site listed will give you most Hondas and Acuras listed with trouble codes.
If you have no light, watch for it, it will be coming soon.
Chances are that your fuel filter is dirty and needs to be changed, you MAY have bad injectors, make sure that your idle is not set too high... and just watch the signs.
You may have a bad rotor in your distributor, bad plugs, or wires, or both. Review the maintenance dates for the last tune-up you gave your car.
Car was dented, whats the chance of getting it fix without spending a penny?
sounds like it idles way too high...that's really all i know about this situation.Problems with Renault C lio 1995 diesel?
I don't know what year your Honda is but back in the 90's Honda used wax. Unlike North american cars that used a spring near the carb (which essentially expanded or contracted with the heat of the engine) Honda used a wax inside a cylinder to control the idle speed.Picture a wire inside a tube of wax (when you start the car the wax is solid so the wire when pulled back revs hire. As soon as the wax heats up from the motor the wire slips so that the idle is lower when driving.
My guess is you just need the idle speed adjusted higher.
