Sounds like you wore your front brake pads out & the noise you hear/feel is metal on metal so you're rotors are probably ruined. You will probably need to have both front rotors & brake pads replaced. Depending on where you live the cost should be anywhere from $130.00- $225.00 . You should also have your rear brakes checked &/or adjusted to help take some of the load off of your front brakes

the noise is the backing of the brake pads eating the rotors if the noise is coming form the front . If you had it fixed went they were squealing it would have cost you up to 300 bucks . But since you let it go this far and will need new rotors it could go as high as 1500 depending or the car or truck your driving
