if it is oil, that is a prob..........check oil ..........if low ,put more in .....take it to mechanic
you're leaking either oil or transmission fluid (oil would be brown/black, while tras fluid should be reddish). The smell is most likely the fluid hitting something very hot, such as the exhaust header, and smoldering. Have a mechanic check it over for you
yea u better get that checked out, dont want it to burn up
there is a hole in the fuel pipe leading to the engine.replace the pipe with a new one.
It said "As is" for a reason.
Isuzu Repair Issues: Part not being released??
You probably smell the tranny fluid that gets on the exhaust pipe and burns once the pipe heats up.If U had fuel fumes coming from under the hood U would have a fire. That is most likley the burning tranny fluid and the smoke from it.
how long and how fast can you drive on a spare tire?
OK the burning smell sounds like the Front transmission seal is leaking pretty badly. To find out look under the car for excess oil all the way to the back it is getting on the hot exhaust. Also look at the back end of the car if the leak is bad enough it will leave oil spots on the back end. For the fuel it sounds like the fuel line or an ejector is leaking and the car shouldn't be driven until it is fixed. Gas will burn your investment up in a moments notice. So be careful.I have a 2007 Honda CRV with a Service Engine Soon light on after 4K miles anyone know why?
most of the time its going to be oil. you could be leaking oil or your engine will actually burn it if you have a sludge build up.Dash knobs for heater in '01 Alero?
Dear Spice; most cars, not unlike us tend to leak a little when we get old.The thing is to find out just witch component is leaking the most,..from where...dripping on what..i.e. exhaust system for example would explain fumes and burning smell. If you are a D.I.Y. person with a lot of time to spend systematically
hunt down all the and fix them, remember oil leaks make cars unroadworthy.
On the other hand if you mechanically challenged, find a mechanic you trust and have a chat with your financiers. good luck

If I am not mistaken, the oil filter for this vehicle is located close to the firewall on the topside of the engine upside down. So you remove the filter, oil spills onto the engine. THis may be your problem if the oil was changed recently. I would recommend taking it to a mechanic to have it checked out to make sure.HOW DO YOU GET RUBBER FROM LIKE A TRASH CAN OFF THE PAINT OF YOUR Car?!?!?
the oil is probably getting on the exhaust and burning.Sound like you have oil making its way to your hot exhaust pipe. Go around with the proper size wrench or socket and "snug up" all the fasteners on the oil pan . But first crawl under the car (think safety here)and look where the oil trail originates from.
