I am working on a craftsman chain saw. I have the chain and blade off i cant get the clutch and sprocket off.

This is a 18 inch craftsman chain saw. the gear that turns the chain is wore down in the middle. it wont turn the chain.

I Know nothing about chain saws, but perhaps you need a special puller. Go to the manufactures website and catalog replacement parts. It should tell you there if a puller is necessary.

The crankshaft has reversed threads. FYI Turn it clockwise to remove.

The nut for the clutch may be left hand thread. Take a look...Regardless, if you do not have an air wrench, stuff a piece of starter cord/clothes line into the cylinder so it will not allow the engine to turn over. With a box wrench remove the nut. If it is stubborn whack it with a hammer, the wrench..
