On a 12 volt upgrade from 6V where does the 1 wire alternator wire go so it charges the battery.?

Question:
I have a 1950 ford f-1 and I upgraded it to 12 volt and it runs great. However it doesnt charge the battery because the battery keeps dieing. Right now i have everything wired as it was in the 6V way with the 1 wire from the alternator hooking in the back of the dash boards power area. Where should it be. Thanks

You can't charge a 12 volt battery with a six volt generator.

Primary charge wire to Battery +
Secondary (white?) wire goes to a power source controled by the ignition switch to supply power to excite the alternator with the key on. No power with key off.

i own a shop, and if you up graded to the one wire alternator, all you have to do is bring a wire off the positive terminal of the battery ,and put on the post at the alternator, but make sure if this alternator does have the plug on it that you have the adapter on it to jump it with, if its just the plain old one wire deal you only have to have the one wire with it,to get it to charge,if you don't have a real good ground wire on it, it wont charge any at all it has to complete the circuit through a ground, good luck with it i hope this helps.

Drum to disc brake conversion. How much would that cost including parts?

Directly to the battery, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Also make sure you have a good grounding strap connected to the motor to ground everything in the charging system.

If you have a single wire 12V alternator, the big wire should go to the positive battery terminal on your 12V battery. You most likely had to install a 6V converter to power your 1950 gauges, lights, and ignition system. right?

Is there a current kind of bongo that you have to use for your car or is that all the same? I have a rust spot

One wire should go to the pos. terminal of your battery, the other should connect to the chassis(ground, or 0V).

What do i need to start my exhaust upgrade ?

The wire from alt goes to pos battery terminal the power wire from dash goes to the solenoid .
