If you want to start it, you'll need a key. To get a key after you lost yours, you will need to contact a locksmith or a dealership (dealership of the make of car you own) give the dealership your VIN, which can be found on the dashboard on a small metal strip usually visiable through the windshield. With this number and verification that you are the owner of the vehcile, they can cut you a new key, if your car is new enough. If it is too old, you will need to call a locksmith.
