Question:
I hit a metal fence post and put a dent in my feder right by the light about 8 in diameter. Someone said I'd have to replace the hole fender. It looks like it might could be pulled out. There are not scratches or anything like that. I have a $500 deductable so even if it is up to $800 or so it would be best to pay out of pocket. A new fender would be $1500 or more. Can it be pulled out?
Answers:
More than likely it can be pulled out and filler used to smooth it over and make it look like new, however, the process for doing this take a longer amount of time than it take to swap a new fender in and paint it. The faster they can get stuff in and out, the more business they get.
You kinda have to ask them what it would cost to pull and fix or find a different shop to give you an estamate, then compare the time vs. the cost.
What is the easiest and best way to replace a u joint?
If it isn't right by the leading edge of the fender, and isn't creased too much, it can be "pulled" or "hammered out". Getting to the inside to hammer it out can be tricky, but it can be done.I have a 2000 Plymoth Neon and I was wondering how hard was it to change the spark plug and wires?
Are you talking going to a body shop, or doing it yourself? A body shop can tell you immediately if it's easy or not.
How do you know its water? i thought it was gas leaking out of a muffler?
i own a shop, and yes it probably can be pulled out,but it will never look right ,those are so thin on the newer cars now that there almost impossible to straiten out,the cost for replacing it with a good used one and painting it back to match should be around 7-800 bucks just for the fender, and i know with the deductible its not going to help you that much.but you have to get this one fixed though,so id probably get a good used one,and have it put on and painted myself, and also check to see if you can get a lower deductible on your insurance, mine was 500 also and i got it lowered to a 100,i pay 75 bucks more on my policy a year ,but i still come out ahead, good luck with all of this ,i hope this helps. Some tips for performance on my 2 stroke engine please?
I checked RockAuto.com and a new fender for a 2000 Chevy Silverado is $80 to $110 depending on which side it is and if it is CAPA certified (bodyshop quality standard). There would also be the cost of repainting it.More Questions & Answers ...
