hi, common mistake on those is when ur putting the air tube back togather is to not put the line on that goes from the air tube to the passenger side valve cover, i would make sure that is on and that there is not any air leaks after the mass air flow sensor.How to do a head gasket... help!!?

This problem is not related to your pump.Make sure you didn't disturb any sensor wires etc while doing the pump job, but I'm sure you did that already. So if the pump pulley is definitely rotating normally with no binding, it apparently is a coincidence. The first thing I'd do is to review my last ignition tune-up and make sure the plugs and wires are good. You can check the wires on a real dark night with the car parked and idling with the hood up. After your eyes adjust to the darkness, have a friend punch the accelerator pedal a few times and see if you can see any ignition spark jumping off the plug wires to ground. If so, you know all the spark is not getting to the spark plug properly.
