Chevy Lumina sluggish when accelerating, engine ticking noise?

Hi,
My 97 Chevy lumina is making a ticking noise when idle, and also when you slow down or stop and then accelerate the engine is sluggish and it's hard to pick up any speed, does anyone know what the cause of this might be?

How do I re-time a 1971 chevy C10, 350 4 barrel?

When was the last time it was given a complete tune up. If you are having trouble answering the question, then tune it up. Replace the air & fuel filter.
