I THINK MY ENGINE IS KNOCKING!! What do i do?!!?

Question:
I think my engine is knocking but then again im not sure if its knocking or rattling. Or in that case, if its even the engine making the kind of knocking noise. It's a 1996 Mitsubishi Galant S with bout 150K on it but it still RUNS GREAT and theres nothing else wrong with it. the noise just started REAL RECENTLY and im positive the oil levels are fine. Dont know if the oil needs changed or not but im really worried because family/relatives keep telling me its going to cost a ton to get the engine fixed if it really is knocking. How much will it really cost to get the knocking fixed? what is the knocking caused by? and what to do to prevent it n the future? How do u know if its rattling or knocking? PLEASE HELP ME!
Thanks
p.s. sorry so much lol

Could be a labor knock. Next time you fill up, use plus or premium gas in it. If it helps, that's what it is. It's older and needs better gas. No real issue with the car if that's the case.

My car makes a ticking noise when I accelerate(like a baseball card stuck in a bicycle) what could that be?

Changing the oil will cost $25.00, if thats not it you probably have a lifter problem or worse

does anyone know how much i would pay for a speedometer sensor?

If the knock sounds like a ping or rattle when the engine is under load or lugging then it's just cheap gas. If it knocks loudest when you rev it and let off just a little it could be a piston or rod bearing. If it's a low pitch knock when you first start it then it could be a crank bearing. If you suspect a bad bearing you can usually locate it by unplugging one plug wire at a time(don't do this with the engine running) and when the sound lessens you have the guilty cylinder.

How much should a 120000 mile tune-up on a 1997 Hyundai Tiburon inc. timing belt and water pump cost?

Engine parts move with the aid of lubrication. The lack of lubrication will cause the hot parts to "seize" or bend. The connecting rod which connects the piston to the crankshaft, gets bent. Then it hits the side of the engine from the inside. It needs to be changed before the engine stops which will happen if it bends more. Hi reving an engine with low oil can cause you to throw or(bend) a rod. Throwing a rod normally puts a hole in the engine.

I need installation instructions for a chevrolet astro fuel pump repair kit.?

If its the engine, it could be caused by using a gasoline with insufficient octane. Try using a tank or two of the best ( highest octane ) gas the next couple of times you fill it up. You should get almost immediate results if thats the cause.
